Overview

Ember, formerly known as Focus Shield (“the app”) is an iPhone app that helps you block distracting apps and build calmer routines. It is published by dlapps. This policy explains what the app does with information, in plain language.

What we collect

We do not collect any data from the app. Your settings, schedules, focus history and choices stay on your device. We do not track your activity, read your messages or sell your data.

How Screen Time is used

To block apps, Ember uses Apple’s Screen Time technology. You choose the apps, categories and websites, and Apple applies the block on your device. Ember does not see which apps you use. You can turn off access at any time in your iPhone’s Settings.

Face ID

Ember may use Face ID, or your device passcode, to confirm sensitive actions such as changing your blocked apps or settings. This authentication happens entirely on your device through Apple’s Secure Enclave. We never receive, store or transmit your biometric data, only a success or failure result from the authentication attempt.

Notifications

If you allow them, the app sends reminders tied to your focus schedule. These are created on your device, and you can switch them off in the app’s Settings or in iOS Settings.

Purchases

Ember Pro subscriptions are bought and managed through your Apple ID and the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment details.

Third parties

Ember relies on Apple’s services, such as Screen Time and the App Store, which are governed by Apple’s own privacy terms. We do not use any analytics, tracking or other third-party data services, and we do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.

Children

The app is rated 13+ on the App Store and is not designed for younger children.

Your choices

  • Revoke Screen Time access in iOS Settings.
  • Turn off reminders in the app or in iOS Settings.
  • Delete the app to remove its data from your device.
  • Cancel a subscription in your App Store account settings.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date above. Material changes will be announced in the app or on this site.
